Lasso turns anything visible on your screen into a useful action. Draw a rectangle around what matters: it recognizes text and structure on your Mac and shows an action bar right next to your selection.
One selection, the right action
Pick a kind of content and see what Lasso recognizes and offers. It all happens on your Mac.
Press the shortcut
Control–Shift–Space, in any app. Lasso lives in the menu bar and stays out of the Dock and Command–Tab.
Draw the rectangle
Over apps, websites, PDFs, slides, videos, remote desktops, and content that can't be selected.
Pick the action
Your selection stays highlighted while the action bar appears beside it. Actions are ranked by relevance and keyboard-navigable.
Nineteen recognition modules
Each module has its own settings and can be turned on or off in Settings.
Events
Invitations, dates, times, time zones, places and meeting links, ready to review and add to Calendar.
Tables
Rebuilds detected tables, lets you edit cells, and copies them as CSV, TSV or Markdown.
Error messages
Cleans up messages copied from the screen and can explain them with the on-device language model.
Addresses & maps
Opens addresses in Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. Without the Waze app installed, it uses the website.
Package tracking
Recognizes UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL Express numbers and opens the carrier's official tracking page.
Sensitive data redaction
Finds names, emails, phone numbers and cards. You choose what to blur or cover, with a preview of the result.
Receipts
Extracts merchant, date, subtotal, tax, tip, total, currency and the last digits of the payment method.
Color palette
Finds the dominant colors in the selection, shows HEX values, and copies one color or the whole palette.
QR codes
Reads QR codes straight from the image and understands links, emails, phone numbers, contacts, events and plain text.
Emails, phones & contacts
Turns detected details into actions for Mail, Messages, FaceTime, or an editable contact.
Reminders & tasks
Recognizes tasks in English, Spanish and Portuguese, extracts likely dates, and creates a reviewable item in Reminders.
Translation
Translates selected text between English, Spanish and Portuguese with Apple's translation technology.
Smart links
Recognizes HTTPS links, strips ad and tracking parameters, and opens or copies a clean or Markdown version.
Units & time zones
Converts temperatures, distances, lengths, weights, times and time zone abbreviations into your format.
Currency conversion
Recognizes prices and converts them with daily reference rates. Remembers your choice and keeps up to three favorites.
Summaries
Summarizes longer text selections with the on-device language model.
Developer tools
Formats JSON, inspects JWTs, decodes Base64 and URLs, normalizes UUIDs, and recognizes paths and code snippets.
Advanced OCR editing
Fix recognized text, find and replace, repair broken lines, trim spaces, and count words and characters.
Custom parsers
Create, test, import and export Parser Packs in JSON, without running scripts or outside code.
Always a next step
Even when no specialized content is detected, your selection stays useful.
Quiet in the menu bar
No Dock icon, no Command–Tab entry. Your selection stays highlighted while a Liquid Glass action bar appears next to the content.

Reuse any selection
Lasso keeps your recent captures encrypted on your Mac. Click the menu bar icon to act on the latest one again, or open History to search and reuse earlier ones without selecting again.
Processed on your Mac
Text recognition, selection analysis and content detection happen on your Mac. Lasso doesn't send captures or recognized text to our servers.
Capture history stays encrypted on your Mac, with the key in your iCloud Keychain. If you turn on iCloud sync, each capture is encrypted before it leaves your Mac, and neither Apple nor we can read it.
Outside services are used only when you choose an action, like opening a map, searching the web, tracking a package or visiting a link. Currency conversion sends only the currency codes, never the captured amount.
The app's usage metrics are anonymous and never include captures, recognized text, links, file paths, parser rules or extracted fields. You can turn them off in Settings → Privacy.
What you need
Before you download
Does Lasso work on content that can't be copied?
Yes. It reads the selected area of the screen, so it works over protected PDFs, slides, videos, remote desktops and any interface that doesn't let you select text.
Do my captures go to a server?
No. Recognition and detection happen on your Mac. History stays encrypted on your Mac and only goes to iCloud if you turn on sync, already encrypted. Outside services come in only when you choose an action that uses them.
How does history work?
Each capture is stored encrypted on your Mac, with the image, the recognized text and the source app, so you can reuse it without selecting again. By default, Lasso keeps 50 captures for up to 30 days and skips captures that contain a card number. You can change these limits or turn history off in Settings → History.
Can I change the Control–Shift–Space shortcut?
Yes. The global shortcut is configurable in Settings, along with multi-display selection, window selection, the sound after capture, and launch at login.
What are Parser Packs?
Custom JSON parsers you create, test, import and export. They recognize specific formats, extract fields, produce custom text, or open validated HTTPS addresses, without running scripts or outside code.
Which languages does Lasso support?
The interface is in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with automatic system language detection and a manual choice. Task recognition and translation cover those three languages too.
